Buddhist monks protested before the Indian High Commission

Buddhist organizations Ravana Balaya and Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) marched to the High Commission but were told that no official would come to accept their petition then Buddhist monks protested before the Indian High Commission in numbers on Wednesday as a result of the officials refusing to accept a petition that they attempted to hand over. The participating priests then stuck the petition on the wall of the High Commission and dispersed.
There were about 600 present at the sight and more are suspected to be present in the vicinity. Buddhist monks  from Vietnam and Bangladesh also participated in the protest   The matters  were considered an internal matter by the Indian government.
A disgruntled BBS head  priest Galagodaatthe Gnanasara Thero told media that  ”India should act more responsibly and the Indian government has an obligation to protect a World Heritage site such as the Bodhgaya temple. They should not disregard our concerns tin such a manner".

Five people including two Buddhist monks were injured in the attacks on Sunday on the Indian Buddhist temple in the eastern state of Bihar and  security of all states with Buddhist population and sites has been tightened and more forces are employed including Chennai City over 5,000 police personnel across the city are deployed.
