Animal sacrifice of the Chilaw Munneshwaram Kovil temporarily halted

The management of the Chilaw Munneshwaram Sri Bhadrakhali Kovil has decided to temporarily halt its annual animal sacrifice.

The animal sacrifice did not take place last year as well and currently there is a case being heard in this regard in the Appeals Court and the case scheduled to be taken up for hearing on the 27th. The animal sacrifice at the Kovil was scheduled to take place on the 21st of this month and the decision to temporarily halt it was taken subsequent to a notification by the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Puttalam region.
