Australia grants political asylum to former SSP Prishantha Jayakody

It is reported that Australia has granted political asylum to former former SSP of Rathnapura division Mr. Prishantha Jayakody, sources said.

It is said that Mr. Jayakody's son is also living in Australia and he is also a police officer there. However, Mr. Jayakody has obtained leave saying that he needs to go visit his son in Australia. Although his leave period was over on the 10th July, he did not return to Sri Lanka. And it is now being revealed that he was being pressurized unduely by the political authorities during his execution of police duties.
