JVP to introduce new amendment

JVP decided to introduce a political package to replace the 13th amendment to the Constitution. The 13th amendment should be abolished and a political package that recognizes short term and long term solutions for issues confronted by Tamil masses should be implemented.

The JVP believes the existing issues could be settled by completely abolishing the 13th amendment together with provincial councils and implementing the package. Protecting rights and identity of the Tamil masses in the North and the East, finding solutions for issues confronted by them at present, accepting Sri Lanka as a multinational state constitutionally should be included in the package and it should be compiled as a document that cherishes rights of all communities said Mr. Dissanayake.
