Court issued arrest warrant for former DIG Vaas Gunawarden​a’s son

The Kaduwala Magistrate today issued an arrest warrant for former DIG Vaas Gunawardena’s son Ravindu Gunawardena.

The warrant was issued after he failed to appear in court in connection with an assault incident. Ravindu Gunawardena has been accused on assaulting Nipuna Dhanushka Ramanayake, a student of the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) in 2009. The CID had meanwhile told Court this week that Ravindu Gunawardena is also a suspect in the murder of the Muslim businessman over which his father has already been arrested.
