Lankan issue at Lok Sabha

India’s AIADMK, led by J. Jayalalithaa yesterday raised an issue during the ‘Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha demanded urgent steps by the Indian government to secure the release of Indian fishermen detained in Iran and Sri Lanka and is was raised by AIADMK leader M Thambidurai.

He further asked the government to take steps to secure the release and repatriation of 16 Tamil Nadu fishermen suffered in Iranian jails. He pointed that, “CM Jayalalithaa had written a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking his immediate intervention on the fishermen of Kanyakumari, Ramanathapuram and Nagapattinam districts. Thambidurai also said that Sri Lankan navy arrested 26 fishermen and he sought their release as well.
