Three international election monitors invited

Polls Chief Mahinda Deshapriya invited three international monitors to monitor Northern Provincial Council election.

South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation, Commonwealth and the Association of Southeast Asian Nation are the three organizations that will be invited to monitor northern polls. Group of political parties requested to invite European Union for election monitors. However EU announced they will send monitors only for national elections. (2nd Lead) Follow law and order - Election commissioner Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya requested political parties to follow law and order in the upcoming provincial council election. Filing nomination papers for northern, north western and central provincial councils will commence on July 25 and continue till August 1. Election commissioner also noted political parties should mention total amount of candidates in the nomination paper.
