16 year- old girl arrested over obtaining ransom from Tamil Muslim traders

Colombo crime branch police officers have arrested group obtaining million of bribe from traders at Fort area. This group has introduced themselves has underworld group leader Potta Naufer, currently detained in the prison.

This group have phoned traders and issued death threats to their families. This team was lead by three prisoners who are been sentence to death at the Welikada prison. For the past 7 months this group has obtained ransom from Tamil and Muslin traders in the Fort area. Traders were fear over Potta Naufer and failed to inform police this regard. However a trader lodged complaint at the Fort police station. During the time of investigation police arrested 16 year-old girl while at Udugama , Galle. This girl has joined the group according to the advice given by her lover detained at the Welikada prison. Prisoners will contact traders through mobile phones and ordered to deposit cash towards bank account owned by this girl. This girl has spent money for her day today activities and rest of them was hand over to gang leader, she said.
